A DELEGATION FROM THE NATIONAL CENTER FOR COMMUNITY REHABILITATION VISITED ALAZHAR UNIVERSITY

A delegation from the National Center for Community Rehabilitation visited Alazhar University on Sunday, 21/4/2013. The delegation consisted of Mr. Khaled AbuZeid; NCCR consultant, Dr. Wael Abu Rezeq; Executive Director, Mona AbuSharekh; Project officer, and Mayyasa Shaat; information center coordinator. The meeting was attended by Dr. Medhat SaadAllah; student affairs dean, Mr. Kamal Murtaja; international relations and information officer.
Dr. AbuSaman welcomed the NCCR delegation and expressed the university interest in persons with disabilities. Then showed the advantages that the university gives to students with disabilities, adding that the university is planning to conduct a workshop about the situation of persons with disabilities in the society.
Mr. AbuZeid thanked the university explaining that the vision of the NCCR is based on offering free services to people with disabilities, communicating with local communities, and research and studies.
Medhat Saadallah welcomed delegation, he explained that the university offers advantages and facilities for people with disabilities, including exemption of tuition fees for the physically and visually disabled depending on the percentage of disability determined by the researcher. He said that the number of disabled people in the university is more than 30 students. Also he discussed the possibility of accommodating the university for deaf students. The international relations officer promised to show the university Board a request presented by the NCCR delegation to develop a voluntary fund for students with disabilities, also agreed to hold a workshop about the situation of persons with disabilities within the next days.
